Momentum present’s Rhapsody, a full length dance and live rock show featuring the music of Queen and the songs that have captivated generations of fans and inspired countless artists. The show is a celebration of the music that you know and love and highlights the local talents of 21 dancers, 5 vocalists, and a 4 piece band that will rock you.

For 15 years, Momentum has delighted audiences with dance works that are innovative, relatable, and deeply genuine. The company performs a variety of works every year, across stages and sites that keep shows accessible, engaging and allow all ages to enjoy the art of dance.

Rhapsody is the company’s season 15 finale and draws together the elements that have given Momentum its voice for over a decade. It’s a highly energetic, collaborative, genuine, genre-mixing good time, where everyone can belong.

As part of the legacy and generosity of Queen’s ongoing commitment to HIV and AIDS assistance, Momentum will be donating a portion of every ticket sold to our local 4A’s (Alaska Aids Assistance Association). Kendra Arciniega

Kendra Arciniega is a Mexican-American singer, writer, and producer who's known for her work in advancing Latin, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ artists through entertainment and cultivating inclusive community programming. She's worked as a session singer and backup vocalist for multiple acts between Los Angeles and Anchorage, and has enjoyed exciting work in musical theatre such as Orange is the New Musical, In The Heights, and The Rocky Horror Show. She was honored with the Rasmuson Foundation's Individual Artist Award in 2021 for her work in scripted entertainment. Through her company, Arciniega Street Productions, Kendra and her wife Mercedes are the producers behind local shows such as Drag Lotería, VIBES: Drag, Diva & Burlesque, and Anchorage's Alt R&B Neo-Soul concert series Lights Down Low.

Mercedes Arciniega

Mercedes is a versatile performer and voice teacher, ranging in everything from classical, jazz and musical theatre to pop, rock and R&B. She is the Artistic Director of Sing Out Anchorage, an LGBTQ+ vocal ensemble dedicated to community-building, education, and performance. In addition to Rhapsody, Mercedes will be performing in and music directing Anchorage Cabarets' season finale, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. She is a co-producer with her wife Kendra for Arciniega Street Productions, a boutique production company specializing in community programming that lifts up and highlights LGBTQ+ and BIPOC artists.

Kat Moore

Kat Moore is a prolific mulit-instrumentalist, poet, and singer-songwriter. A sought after collaborator, Kat has worked with Momentum Dance Collective (Sugar & Salt) Theatre Alaska (Sisters of White Chapel), Emma Hill and Alex Cruver Trio and can regularly be found onstage with her band, The Super Saturated Sugar Strings. Her blend of poetry and music is reminiscent of Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen, while her catchy and cinematic piano compositions often garner comparisons to Fiona Apple and Regina Spektor. Kat’s charismatic performance style takes listeners on a journey from introspection to laughter and beyond.

Zaide Manzano

Zaide Manzano (pronouns They/Them) is so excited to join this cast of amazing performers. More well known to the community under their Drag Stage name, Dela Rosa, Zaide has been a local performer for years as a Drag Artist, a member of the Anchorage Opera, and performing in community theatre around town. Queen holds a special place with Zaide, not only with Freddie Mercury being the Queer Icon that he was, but growing up with their music as a child became a huge inspiration for them musically and theatrically. You can find them performing weekly at the Diva Variety Drag Show at Mad Myrnas, as well as hosting Drag Loteria monthly at Cafecito Bonito, produced by Arciniega Street Productions.

Denali Romero

Denali is a singer, songwriter, and musician who was born and raised here in Anchorage, with deep ties to her Peruvian roots. Drawing inspiration from artists like Esperanza Spalding, Janelle Monae, and Matt Corby, she feels at home in many genres. Singing in both English and Spanish and taking her own inventive spin on old favorites, her unique sound masterfully blends simple intimacy and full, larger-than-life soul,
