Greta Nelson

Greta fell in love with dance when her mom first took her to observe a ballet class at age nine. She started dancing that same year with dance instructor Norma Cooper in her hometown of Sterling, Alaska. Greta continued taking classes during elementary school, high school, and college including ballet, tap, Irish clogging, jazz, hip-hop, swing dance, and modern/contemporary.

As a teen she got to teach elementary ballet while studying at Encore Dance Academy in Kenai, and became a performing member of Peninsula Artists in Motion's dance company for many years. Greta also enjoyed dancing parts in many musicals with Kenai Performers including Brigadoon, The King and I, and Grease.

After getting married and moving to Anchorage in 2013 she took classes at Pulse Dance Studio and was excited to be a part of their company’s performance of Cinderella. Greta auditioned for Momentum in 2015 after seeing them perform Impact and has been a collective member ever since. Momentum has become her perfect dance family in Anchorage and provides many extraordinary outlets to move in the community. Her most recent accomplishment was fulfilling the lifelong dream of becoming a mom, and is excited to be back full-time after taking a partial season off for recovery. Greta loves the fact that Momentum gives her the opportunity to dance across multiple phases of life, and the ability to be involved in important artistic work in Alaska.
