Irenerose Antonio currently works as a director and choreographer for Momentum Dance Collective, under the direction of Artistic Director, Becky Kendall. Irenerose recently directed a multi-site multi-media community outreach project titled IMPACT- where 10 months of extensive research and partnerships with advocacy groups and visual artists in the community culminated into 6 site-specific performances around Anchorage, with the purpose bringing awareness to how we interact, as well as to inspire others to witness, listen, and support eachother as a community.
Irenerose also works professionally as a manager, choreographer, and performer for Underground Dance Company’s adult team, UDC Hardcore, where she co-artistically developed two seasons of RAW, an evening length show featuring urban and contemporary dance.
Other works include award-winning competition choreography in contemporary and hip-hop for Barbara’s School of Dance, master classes and new work set for East High School Dance Contempo, as well as performances and collaborations with The Light Brigade and Theater Artists United.
She will always appreciate her roots, from learning freestyle and hip-hop from her brother, to the best public school arts program at East High, to minoring in dance through UAA’s Dance Program, under the direction of Brian Jeffery. When she’s not dancing, she’s busy teaching her ways to the Jedi, managing her assisted living home, playing with her camera, or hoping for a good snowfall so she can hit the slopes.
