Momentum Dance Collective is a newly formed contemporary dance company in Anchorage. It is a direct development of the need for local dancers and choreographers to continue their journey of self expression through movement. The goal of Momentum is to provide the community with original and exciting contemporary dance works that are developed from the collaboration of dancers, and to extend the public's awareness and appreciation of dance through education, performance and instruction.
Momentum is made up of seven dancers with diverse backgrounds in dance with training and study ranging from Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Tap, Hip Hop, Latin, and other styles of social dance. Using improvisational techniques and traditional choreography as a launch pad, Momentum hopes to fuse these individual styles to form works that are edgy, modern and ever growing and changing.

Momentum has recently been designated its 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. The Collective hopes to provide not only an appreciation of contemporary dance through performance, but through teaching and instruction in schools and other community forums.
Dance is for everyone. It is more than just form. It is a pulse, a rhythm that can be found everywhere, in all of us... even in a breath.
